Join us at the Cascadia Grains Conference on January 17th & 18th in Olympia, WA. Connect, learn and grow with us with educational and hands-on sessions, field trips, panels, local grain meals and more! With Keynote Speaker Mel Darbyshire of Grand Central Bakery and featuring the work of many regional grain luminaries across the country.

Three Sisters Nixtamal owners Adriana Azcarate and Pedro Ferbel will be a part of group sessions involving Food Justice and Cultural Food Pathways as well as a Workshop: “Masa a Living History”

Come enjoy all things grain with a focus on sustainable agricultural practices, regional economic development and the delicious potential of a local grain economy.

• Tortilla, Sope & Gordita Making Class $45- •

Saturday March 7th from 1PM to 3PM

Join us for our Tortilla, Sope & Gordita Making Class and a tour of our production kitchen. Make your own delicious corn tortillas, sopes and gorditas using our fresh masa in this hands-on workshop and learn about nixtamalization, local Mexican cheeses and some easy recipes to make at home.  This class is vegetarian with vegan options. Bring an appetite!

Class includes masa and recipes to take with you.

When: March 7th from 1PM until 3PM

How: Class size is limited. Tickets must be purchased in advance.  Cancellation with $35- refund offered up to one week ahead. This is a hands-on workshop. Please wear comfortable shoes.

• Tamale Making Basics $65- •

Saturday April 11th from 10AM to 1PM

Tamale Making Basics!   Make your own delicious tamales with a simple classic ‘verde’ tomatillo sauce and a red chile sauce.  All in corn husks using our organic fresh yellow, white and blue corn masa and butter.   An all vegetarian option is available. 

Class includes mixing the masa as well as filling and folding your tamales, a demonstration on how to make the sauces, a kitchen tour and your own hand-crafted delicious tamales to take with you.

Farmers Markets

We are on Winter Break from the Saturday Portland Farmers Market at PSU and will be back on April 4th

Wednesday People's Co-op Farmers Market 2pm - 7PM

This year-round farmers market is located in central Southeast Portland at the People’s Co-op.  Tortillas and  masa are made fresh in the morning.

Having a taco party? Making tamales? You can order in bulk by Monday and pick it up from us at the Market on Wednesday afternoon.https://www.peoples.coop

We also grind a coarser drier masa used for tamales. We typically grind this once a week so please give us plenty of lead time on your order. It is not “prepared” for tamale making so you will need to add the other ingredients. See our tamale page for more information.

By 5PM Monday for Wednesday 2PM to 6PM Pick-up at People’s Co-op Farmers Market

By 5PM Wednesday for Saturday 9 to 2 Pick-up at PSU Saturday Portland Farmers Market. April through November only.
