Pick-up and Availability of our products
With all the uncertainty during this ongoing COVID-19 outbreak our hearts go out to everyone who has felt the effects of this virus on their physical and mental health, their work, their family life, and their sense of stability in the world. Below is an update and the answers to some frequently asked questions about how Three Sisters Nixtamal is responding to COVID-19. We are so thankful to be able to continue to do the work we love and even more importantly to continue to support our employees and their families.
Early April Closure
We were closed the first part of April to give us and our employees time to shelter in place and give us some clarity on how we should best move forward. We re-opened Tuesday April 11th under limited production and have implemented social distancing, wearing masks and gloves, and other processes to best ensure the safety of all us, from production to distribution to costumer. Our Oregon Department of Agriculture inspector confirmed our State mandated safety and hygiene and social distancing practices were in compliance. Our limited production includes running one machine instead of two so fewer employees work each shift, and a temporary hold on making the 4inch street-taco size for retail, as it takes several more people to working in close proximity. We have also cut down on our direct contact within the stores by using our distributors and GreenWheels, a delivery hub for New Seasons Markets, to get our products onto the grocery store shelves.
Product Availability
As much as we love being at the farmers market we have temporarily given up our spaces at the Wednesday People’s Food Co-op and Saturday PSU Portland Farmers Markets, so that the bounty/financial well-being of local farms and smaller producers is prioritized. We are impressed at the measures the market managers and farms/vendors have implemented to operate safely and we hope to return soon.
Yes, if you are in the Portland area you can pick up tortillas, masa, hominy and more from us directly. We do not offer shipping at this time. Our Kitchen Store is currently closed, but we are offering Driveway Pick-ups on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10am until 1pm. We are located at 7475 SE 72nd Ave. at the corner with Flavel St.
Please if possible, wear a mask at time of picking up your order.
